All Grown Up!

So my baby sis has finally reached 18!

She’s 3 hours away from me, and has spent the day revising for her A-level exams- she’s got one tomorrow morning- such a glam way of spending your 18th birthday hey!

She sounded down on the phone when I called her after finishing work late this evening so I thought I’d post something to cheer her up.

I love this girl too much, she’s bright, funny (certainly has a lot of fun taking the piss out of her older sister!), and actually gives me a telling off whenever I throw my tantrums!

So my baby sis has hit 18…I still haven’t bought her present- she’s pretty impossible to buy for, but for now I can be the big sister and pass on some ‘WISDOM’ which I gained when I was 18!

rhia bday

So Rhia, my baby sister, I know you’ve had a shitty birthday but don’t forget the all important bit- you’re a year older AND you’re now 18 so let the points below guide you into smooth adulthood!

1. Take your driving licence everywhere, mum has given us the ‘you-will- forever-look-like- a-12-year-old gene’- it’s rubbish being told you can’t buy plastic cutlery for a picnic all because you forgot your ID (yes this did happen to me!)

2. Learn what your alcohol limit is, general test- close your eyes- if you’re spinning then stop drinking

3. End every night out with a dirty kebab with your friends, my best memories are from the random drama that happens in the kebab shop after a night out in Fluid!

4. When you’re out clubbing, don’t bother weighing yourself down with every bit of makeup/hair products you’ve got, noone cares, so just go out and have a good time

5. If you don’t want a hangover the next day- tequila is the one for you- I don’t get hangovers with it, hopefully you will share the same genes!

6. Compeed is your best friend, keep a stick in every handbag you own

7. Makesure you’re single when you go to uni- I’m not encouraging whoring around, but who knows- you might meet the person you’re going to marry-I mean I met Rav when I was 18

8.Keep an open mind with the people surrounding you, as life changes -(which it will-a great deal over the next few years), you’re going to meet some of the most awesome people who will become your extended family, don’t ever believe that blood is thicker than water- you won’t be able to go a week without them, your heart will tell you that they are YOUR people- just like my Stokies are my people

9. Slight contradiction to point number 8- keep an open mind, but don’t be too kind either- for example, if a guy asks for your number in a club and you say no, don’t go back on what you’ve said and feel sorry for him, then end up realising on the date that he’s got an insanely high pitched voice and just isn’t your kind of man! (learn from my mistakes!)

10. You will meet people who give off negative energy- the minute you get that vibe, run away and surround yourself with positive energy, life is too short for people who like drama

11. Don’t ever complain that you’re too tired to do something-, life is short so take every opportunity that is offered- this is one regret of mine, I’ve aged beyond my time!

12. Never trust a man when he says him and his girlfriend are on a break- need I say more?!

13. Be kind to people, do something good everyday- I’ve learnt this from mum and dad, they have got to be the kindest people I know. I think all of the blessings we’ve been given are because mum and dad are so selfless. I think if we do the same, our children will receive those blessings too.

14. Work hard, achieve your goals, when you think you can’t concentrate anymore/can’t go on, have some kind of faith in something. Having faith and believing in something has helped me through all of the exams and all of the testing times in life, it’s healthy to believe in something, it gives you the psychological strength to get through it

15. Travel as much as you can, the world is beautiful and there is so much to see- and so much food to taste!

16. Always eat a Drucker’s cake on your birthday- it wouldn’t be the same without it!

17. You really should learn how to cook proper Indian food, you got off lightly because you’re the youngest- mum used to make me sit in the kitchen and watch her cook every Saturday morning- you should be subjected to it too!

I have so much moreWISDOM’ to share with you- ha! but I’m pretty tired now and need to sleep- so I’ll tell you the rest on Saturday when we celebrate!

WE LOVE YOU VERY MUCH RHIA!

GOODLUCK with tomorrow’s exam

xx
